This $5m program is part of an ACT Government initiative to support Non-government preschools to provide high quality early childhood education.
Grants under this initiative will be provided to help establish new preschools or provide capital support for upgrades.
Supporting Non-Government Preschool funds are limited and not all applications will be successful. The BGA is required by the ACT Education and Training Directorate to assess the eligibility of all applications received. Eligible projects are placed in order of priority for funding on the basis of the following assessment criteria:
projects that increase capacity;
projects that provide value for money and maximise outcomes from available funding;
the readiness of the school to commence construction;
the school’s financial viability to complete the project;
the demonstrated need for the financial assistance;
accessibility of services to disadvantaged groups (including students from low socio-economic status backgrounds, students with a disability, Indigenous students and students with a low-level of English language proficiency).
Grant Applications are not guaranteed and a maximum grant that may be requested is $500,000 (with a minimum contribution by the school of 30%). Only one application per entity may apply for a grant in any round or year. Information and application forms will be provided to ACTBGA participant schools prior to the opening of the round.
A list of approved projects in previous rounds is available here.
